 WINGS to discuss protection of vulnerable adults on Dec. 11 WINGS, the Working Interdisciplinary Network of Guardianship Stakeholders, will meet at 10 a.m. Dec. 11 at the Gartin Justice Building in Jackson. The organization was formed earlier this year to work toward improving the way Mississippi protects vulnerable adults. The WINGS Committee is expected to propose system reforms to support the rights, dignity and autonomy of vulnerable adults while better protecting them from abuse and neglect. Supreme Court Justice Randy Pierce and Ta’Shia Gordon, Deputy Director of the Administrative Office of Courts, will open the meeting. At 10:30 a.m., attorney Kim Duffy of Gautier will talk about supported decision making and less restrictive alternatives for vulnerable adults. Duffy is executive director of the Gulf Coast Down Syndrome Society and a George Riley Fellow at the Mississippi Center for Justice. WINGS members will discuss possible solutions in small groups from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Professor Desiree Hensley of the University of Mississippi School of Law will lead a discussion of proposed recommendations from 2 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. #### |
